Cultivated Mushrooms — Where Should They Be Grown?

White mushrooms, table mushrooms and button mushrooms, these delicacies have many names among the customers for they are very popular indeed. If you want to grow your own mushrooms there are several choices you might consider if youre asking the question where?.

Mushroom production is usually done in caverns, refrigerated warehouses, light-proof greenhouses, tunnels, storehouses, cellars and naturally, modern mushroom cultivation facilities.

The general requirements of mushroom production are as follows:

The constructs must be entirely made of concrete to prevent vermin infestation and to create the required moisture by soaking.

There must not be any cracks on the walls and the ceiling and insulation must be complete.

To be able to maintain the ventilation, temperature, moisture control and for cleaning, the chosen zone must have electricity and water sources. Also ease of transportation should be considered.

The ceiling must be at least 2.5 meters high and the floor must have a canal for drainage. If there isnt a canal, a hole could be dug to collect water.

Depending on the heating system, you should plan where to place the pipes and the ventilation systems beforehand.

Its best to have another well lit room  to disinfect the shoes and to wear an apron before entering the production zone.
